Connection Guide

Follow these steps to connect to The Outer Rim.

Our launcher installs the complete game — you do not need original SWG discs, an old install, or any other client. Just the launcher, an account, and about 7 GB of disk space.

Step 1: Download the Launcher

Download the Outer Rim launcher. It handles the full game install, file updates, graphics settings, and server connection automatically.

Step 2: Register an Account

Create your game account on this website. Your portal login is the same as your in-game login. After registering, check your email for a verification link (look in spam if it doesn't arrive) — your account must be verified before you can log in.

Step 3: Install the Game

1. Run the Outer Rim launcher
2. Click Browse and choose where to install the game — a new empty folder is fine (e.g. C:\OuterRim)
3. Leave the server address as outerrim.gg (pre-filled)
4. Click Update — the launcher downloads the complete client (about 7 GB on first install; after that, updates only fetch changed files)
5. When the download finishes, click PLAY to launch the game!

On later launches the launcher checks for updates automatically.

Step 4: Log In

At the login screen, use the username and password you registered on this website. Create a character and enjoy the galaxy!

Troubleshooting

Problem	Solution
Launcher won't connect	Check that the server is online on the Status page
Download stuck or failing	Close and reopen the launcher. Downloads resume where they left off.
Game crashes on launch	Run the launcher as Administrator. Make sure your install path is correct.
Login fails in-game	Make sure you're using your website username/password and that you clicked the email verification link.
No sound in game	Open the launcher, make sure Sound is checked in Settings, then Play again.
Multiple instances	Check the "Multiple Instances" box in the launcher before clicking Play.
